Good vs. Bad Design _02

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe said that "Less is more", Venturi said "Less is bore" and after that Rem Koolhass said "More is more". Especially Venturi's thinking of architecture about forgotten symbolism of architectural form is in his book 'The Lesson of Las Vegas'.
Complexity, contradiction, symbolism, and popularity  are direct indication of his architectural thought.
Complexity is opposed concept to simplification and it is parallel to ambiguity. 
As Venturi said the overlapping of disciplines may have diluted the architecture, but it enriched the meaning. Complexity which has a variety of meanings enriches the architectural contextualism.
Contradiction means coexistence of opposing elements making tension like traditional elements embodied in contemporary architecture.
Venturi said Modern architecture is progressive and puristic so these monumental features are unsuitable to contemporary architecture.
Finally, systems of space and structure are dependent on the program, but decoration is seperate from them. 
Meaning of decoration is an independentely indirect and symbolic meaning not straightforward. Thus the expression system is seperate from the main structure and internal function. It has its own area. 
Both Venturi and Bobby Young emphasized that symbolic relationship of urban space and program for communication. In conclusion, architecture is not for just aesthetic appreciation its for continuous practice with complicated urban relationship.

Good vs. Bad Design examples

Good design_

The paper clip called Gem clip is ubiquitous design, used worldwide to temporally has elegant loop within a loop of springy wire. It is simple,durable and surprisingly functional.This minimal design makes it to easy to automate cheap to produce and lightweight and easy to use.

Bad design_

This pedestrian overpass is excessive designed and it looks like a huge bug. Designer got no consideration of various pedestrians(users) for example the disabled.This is a form of ableism. And also When I cross this overpass, it obstructed my both side view. It doesn't have anything good in design.
